ABOUT

ABOUT ME

THERAPEUTIC STYLE AND PERSPECTIVE

Sure, you can find my credentials, education, and experience on this page, but first I'd like you to know that I love this work with my whole heart, and that I see therapy as an active, creative, collaborative process in which we both participate. Each person I'm lucky enough to work with is unique. I want to get to know your unique self at your pace and then we can figure some stuff out together.

As for my own, unique self? The wallpaper behind my desk is an enchanted forest, I curse freely, and I believe authentic connection can be formed in moments of levity and laughter as well as depth and tears. I have an intellectual mind and a warm, playful manner, and I utilize my energy creatively in my counseling. My father was a psychiatrist and my mother is still a practicing psychologist; therapy has been both normalized and respected throughout my life.

I work from an eclectic theoretical perspective, with an eye toward Alfred Adler's emphasis on personal goals, cognition, meaning-making, and humor. I'll be curious about the way you think, how you feel, and how the two are connected. And I'll get excited about helping you make connections between present beliefs and behaviors and how you may have experienced and processed your past.

I already think you're brave and awesome for considering this kind of self-care.

EXPERIENCE

I have 19 years of direct clinical experience, 16 of which have been in private practice. I received a Master's in Clinical Psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute in 2005, having previously graduated from Tufts University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts (English/Drama double major).

During the period between educational endeavors, I was fortunate to cultivate a wonderful creative career in entertainment which I continue to enjoy today. Since childhood, I have been passionate about both creativity and psychology (fun fact: my high school yearbook predicted I'd become a "singing psychologist"). For many years, I struggled with the dilemma of which path to choose... until I realized I didn't have to. In 2003 I forged a new path that led me to graduate school, and added it to my life map, the center of which is the intersection of creativity and psychology.

Services

Individual and Relationship Therapy

I offer therapy for individuals as well as relationship pairs in various forms, such as couples, working/creative partners, and family members.

I work well with inquisitive adults who are up for a therapeutic adventure, and I see my role as that of a collaborator, an encouraging teammate, a mirror, an emotional archeologist, and a curious question-asker. I love to help clients discover new and imaginative pathways to insight, dot-connecting, and solution-finding.

I have a particular niche working with those in the entertainment industry and other arts, and my own 25+ years of creative experience yields a unique perspective.

Schedule

Many people who work in arts and entertainment have fluctuating schedules. Instead of offering a same-time-every-week appointment, I ask clients at the end of each session when they would like to come back, inviting them to actively choose to participate in therapy each week in lieu of following a repeating calendar event. Therapy can be an ongoing act of self-care to which we regularly recommit with intention.

Fees

My current fee is $225 per 50-minute session. I am not "in-network" with any insurance plans, but I am happy to provide superbills for you to submit for reimbursement if you have "out-of-network" coverage. Clients are responsible for payment at the time of services.
